Day 25, 26 and 27

The last 3 days or so in Kansas have been brutal. The wind has been extremely strong buffeting Mimi all the time making every step a battle. This combined with the heat and humidity which has returned has been draining. Still Mimi has put in 3 good days in terms of mileage. Today however she will take a rest after 42 or so and have a longer night sleep – a bit like having a weekend off!.

It is proving difficult to get the time to update these pages – we tend to be stationary in remote parts and certainly Kansas has proved this.

Mimi’s spirits remain high and while she looks spent at the end of each day her ability to come out fighting at 4.30 – 5.00 in the morning is extraordinary. Although these last few days have taken their toll we are now moving westwards and as we reach the edge of Kansas the wind promises to abate and the scenery will become more varied.

The “marvellous” moment was reaching the half way mark. The crew decorated the RV with balloons in and out (the wind put paid to many of the outside ones!) – we celebrated with a small glass of alcohol-free wine – very sweet!

The sunsets and sunrises have been spectacular.
