Update so far. Day 5

Tim Anderson Uncategorised

Today the tracker appears to have stopped working (at least on the web page). This can now be found on the front page. (I have just had a message from the tracking company to say that they probably have no mobile signal in the area they are at the moment).

If you want to track the daily route you can however see this by opening Strava – shown on the right hand side of the Tracker on the Home Page.

We have had great coverage from the crew on Face book but generally these have been posted to individual pages and unless you are friend you will not be seeing these. My task today is to try and rectify this! With my IT abilities that could be amusing. However some old FB posts are replayed below.

13th Sept – Message from Jenny Davis Today’s route was all on dirt tracks so tough underfoot for Mimi, she’s now sound asleep after eating all of her dinner and her pudding (I have become quite the feeder this past week!). Tomorrow’s route is inaccessible to anyone but the 4×4, so tomorrow it’ll be just me and Fiona the physio with Mimi.
Rattlesnakes prominent in this area so medic support (i.e. My boyfriend 😂) has given a guide for what to do if it happens, Mimi is prepped too.

13th Sept – Just had a message from
Mimi Anderson to say she is off to bed and that it has been very hot. The tracker stopped working after 5pm Uk Time. Don’t panic she is still moving forward. Hopefully tracker back up later this morning.

13th Sept – Mimi runs USA – camp set up for day 6 @ Hidden Valley Road, Kingman, Nevada USA 🇺🇸

11th Sept – Quite the morning on Day 5 of Mimi‘s world record attempt of running across the USA. Our map failed us only a few miles in and the support vehicle ended up stuck in a sandy muddy pit – queue using a chopping board and then car footwell carpets under the wheels as traction to get out. Dragged a huge tree to place between the back wheels for further traction and emptied the car to reduce its weight. That victorious moment when we got out only to realise we’d have to clear a path through a field of abandoned metal parts. Still, high fives between Fiona and I in celebration of getting the car out sans any male strength assistance 💪🏻
What could possibly happen next you ask? Oh we can easily trump that, once back on the road and waiting to handover food & drink to Mimi, I was bitten on the leg by a scorpion.

The noises and language I used cannot be repeated or the photos taken shared for your viewing pleasure…🤷‍♀️

The film crew then caught me live talking gibberish while we sent photos of the bite to our medical support.

A seriously hilarious day and one which had absolutely no impact on Mimi’s running. A testament to what a fantastic crew we have here and I couldn’t ask for a better bunch, they really are the most fantastic people.

So bring on Day 6! Ps The scorpion wasn’t a venemous one 👌

10th Sept – Another fantastic overnight stop for Monte the RV, Day 4 of Mimi AndersonRun Across America world record attempt. Owner Najah has been absolutely wonderful in letting us stay, an oasis it certainly is as there’s not much around for miles except for desert!
